Abstract

Looking at the capital's tourist attractions on social media has become one of the trends in society. In addition, people are also looking for references to tourist destinations to go on vacation. One of the tourist destinations that often appears is the Thousand Islands. Representations of Thousand Islands that are visited by many tourists are Harapan Island, Kelapa Island, Dolphin Island, and Kelapa Dua Island. One of the reasons for the large number of tourist visits is the amount of content on social media that shares the beauty of tourism there with the narrative of 'hidden paradise'. But does the virtual reality in accordance with the connotation of 'paradise' in the Thousand Islands match the actual reality? This documentary seeks to explore the phantasmagoria of the four islands. Not only that, this documentary also seeks to find out whether there is an economic impact for local residents from the presence of tourists due to the rampant content on social media with the narrative of 'hidden paradise'. This is a report on the process of creating a documentary film that describes the role of videographer and sound stylist in the film "PHANTASMAGORIA OF THOUSAND ISLAND: EXPLORING THE 'PARADISE' OF THE CAPITAL ISLAND". In documentary filmmaking, the visuals captured by the camera are an important asset. It is the job of the videographer to show events that really happened without any fabrication. However, in a documentary film, relying solely on visuals is still insufficient to describe the situation when the movie was created. There needs to be additional sound to add its own effect to the visuals. Then it becomes the task of a sound stylist. The sound stylist is in charge of designing music, direct sound, and sound effects to make the audience feel that the images seen become more alive.
