Abstract
Background: Social isolation is an individual who experiences a decrease in interaction so that they are rarely or even unable to interact because they are lazy or feel that their interactions could threaten themselves. Sufferers of social isolation are characterized by flat or sad affect, a desire to be alone, no eye contact, no goals, a history of being rejected, and an inability to meet other people's expectations. Providing gradual introduction therapy is one way to treat social isolation patients. Acquaintance therapy is carried out with therapeutic communication which includes the orientation phase, work phase and termination phase. The aim of providing this therapy is to improve the patient's ability to interact and reduce signs of social isolation. Research methods: research was conducted descriptively using a case study approach. The research used as subjects 1 (one) social isolation patient in the Kenanga ward at Dr. Mental Hospital. Soeharto Heerdjan Jakarta 2024. Research results: after being given nursing care for 4 days there was a decrease in signs of symptoms of social isolation and an increase in patient interaction abilities. The application of the introduction method is considered effective in reducing signs of symptoms of social isolation and increasing interactions with socially isolated patients.
