Abstract

Acute pain is tissue damage that becomes an unpleasant sensory and emotional experience that can be felt. Acute pain can be caused by many things, one of which is the result of invasive blood sampling which is often carried out in the emergency room. The unpleasant experience of patients, especially children, during injections can cause psychological distress in children. To overcome this, the distraction storytelling technique using finger puppets can be used to analyze its effectiveness in reducing pain and anxiety in pediatric patients when taking blood samples in the emergency room. After carrying out the intervention once, the pain and anxiety scale scores were different between managed patients and resume patients. The results of the analysis show that there are several factors that influence the differences in results between managed patients and resume patients.
