Abstract
The elderly group, which has a large population, is an important concern in the health sector, because basically older people experience the aging process, which means that various organ functions decline. This condition can increase the occurrence of pressure ulcers in the elderly who are bedridden for long periods of time. Decubitus ulcers, also known as pressure ulcers, are a condition where there is damage to the normal skin caused by external pressure or friction over a long period of time. Efforts that families can take to care for elderly people who are on bed rest for a long time are by doing a combination of Massage Efflurage using Virgin Coconut Oil (VCO) and Lying Instead. This study aims to find out how effective Massage Efflurage therapy using Virgin Coconut Oil (VCO) and Lying Lying is in preventing pressure ulcers from occurring. This research is a quasi experimental study conducted for 7 days with a pre-test and post-test measuring the risk of pressure ulcers using the Braden scale score. This research resulted in an increase in the Braden scale score in patients managed before and after the Massage Efflurage intervention using Virgin Coconut Oil (VCO) and Bed Transfer, namely from a score of 12 (High Risk) to 16 (Light Risk). Based on these findings, it can be used as a reference for health workers and families in efforts to prevent the occurrence of pressure ulcers in the elderly with long periods of bed rest.
