Abstract
Chronic renal failure patients undergoing hemodialysis will have access made from the patient's blood vessels to remove blood that will filter out metabolic waste. The commonly used vascular access is Arteriovenous Fistula (AVF). AV Fistula vascular access may cause discomfort and pain during the puncture process. Patients experience pain two to three times a week. The patient experiences insertion pain two to three times a week. Music can affect perception by distracting and diverting the mind from pain. The purpose of nursing care in this study was to determine whether classical music therapy (Mozart) can reduce pain in patients with chronic renal failure undergoing hemodialysis. The application of classical music therapy (Mozart) was carried out by using earphones and the music used was “Sonata for Two Pianos in D Major, K.448” by Mozart” patients began listening to music through earphones 8 minutes before the start of the cannulation procedure and underwent puncture while listening to music. The pain measurement scale instrument used is Visual Analog Scale (VAS). The results obtained in this study were to reduce pain perception by 5 points from scale 7 (severe pain) to scale 2 (mild pain). This study can be concluded that the provision of classical music therapy (Mozart) can reduce pain perception during Arteriovenous Fistula (AVF) insertion in patients with chronic renal failure undergoing hemodialysis.
