Abstract
Low Back Pain is one of the leading causes of global disability with the highest prevalence in individuals aged 50-55 years. WHO data (2020) recorded 619 million cases globally, estimated to increase to 843 million by 2050. In Indonesia, Riskesdas (2021) reported 12,914 cases or 3.71% of the population. Studies show 50.30% of patients in the emergency room experience low back pain. Low back pain can hinder mobility and reduce quality of life. The effleurage massage technique, as a non-pharmacological relaxation therapy, can accelerate pain recovery by using hand touch to cause a relaxing effect. This case study involved two patients with a medical diagnosis of low back pain, who received 1 intervention for ± 15 minutes after receiving pharmacological therapy in the emergency room. As a result, this therapy succeeded in reducing the pain scale by 3 points in the managed patient and 1 point in the resume patient and lowering blood pressure in both. Effleurage massage therapy is expected to be a reference for emergency room nurses in non-pharmacological pain management, in order to reduce patient pain complaints, especially low back pain sufferers in the emergency room.
