Abstract
Hallux Valgus is a deformity of the foot characterized by an abnormal position of the first metatarsal joint (MTP) due to lateral deviation of the thumb and medial deviation of the MTP I. Hallux Valgus may cause pain. This can be exacerbated by activities that are too strenuous. The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between using high heels and the incidence of hallux valgus and calf muscle pain. This is important because of increased use of high heels in the workforce. This study used an observational analysis method with a cross-sectional approach. The sample size was 90 respondents determined by consecutive sampling techniques on sales promotion girl in modern markets in Kediri. This study used a questionnaire containing questions about the use of high heels, hallux valgus, and the Numeric Rating Scale (NRS) to assess the pain felt in the calf muscle. To assess the degree of hallux valgus, researchers used a goniometric tool. The results of statistical analysis regarding high heels and hallux valgus showed a p-value of 0.000 (p < 0.05). The results of statistical analysis regarding high heels and calf muscle pain showed a p-value of 0.003 (p < 0.05). It can be concluded that high heels have a significant relationship with the incidence of hallux valgus and calf muscle pain.
