Abstract

Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD) is a terminal disease that’s increasing annually and one of the most common health problems in Indonesia and other countries. Several therapeutic efforts that can be implemented to cure chronic kidney disease and the majority of chronic kidney disease patients in Indonesia undergo hemodialysis therapy as treatment option. Patients also need the participation of family members to control the patient’s self-care. That is why a decrease in the patient’s condition can be found due to the patient’s disobedience in carrying out hemodialysis therapy, especially with the diet program. This research aims to analyze the relationship between self-care management and dietary adherence in nutritional management among hemodialysis patients at Pasar Rebo Hospital. The instruments used in this study were respondent characteristics sheets, a questionnaire consisting of a Hemodialysis Patients Self Care Measurement Scale questionnaire and a diet adherence questionnaire with a sample of 76 chronic kidney disease patients undergoing hemodialysis therapy at Pasar Rebo Hospital, selected through purposive sampling. This study adopts a cross-sectional approach. The study findings reveal that dietary adherence is not influenced by age, gender (p=0.642), education (p=0.238), or occupation (p=0.537). However, it’s influenced by the duration of hemodialysis (p=0.030) and self-care management (p=0.002).
