Background : Hypertension is a degenerative disease and is a serious problem today. High blood pressure is classified as a dangerous disease because the patient does not know that he has high blood pressure or does not know it until his blood pressure is checked. The incidence of hypertension increases with age. Objective : The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between body mass index, age, gender, diet, physical activity and blood pressure in patients with hypertension at the Ardita Cilangkap Clinic, East Jakarta in 2022. Methods : This study used a quantitative descriptive research method with a cross sectional approach using instruments. in the form of a questionnaire. The total population and sample in this study were 60 respondents. Result : The result in this study is that there is a relationship between body mass index and blood pressure in patients with hypertension, that most of the people who have a history of hypertension are 41 people (68.3%). Based on the variables associated with a history of hypertension, namely BMI (p value = 0.002), diet (p value = 0.016) and physical activity (p value = 0.000). Based on variables that are not related to a history of hypertension, namely age (p value = 0.515) and gender (p value = 0.922). Conclusion : A total of 41 people had a history of hypertension.
