Abstract

A bank will not be separated from non-performing loans. There are various factors that can cause non-performing loans and how to deal with non-performing loans. This study aims to analyze how the performance of the Account Officer at Bank Jawa Barat and Banten in reducing the number of non-performing loans and provide evidence that the performance of the Account Officer is very influential on the number of non-performing loans. The research method used by the author is a qualitative method by conducting direct interviews with Bank West Java and Banten Bank Account Officers and including data on the amount of non-performing loans at Bank Jawa Barat and Banten Kebayoran Baru Sub-Branch Office. The results of the study indicate that the Account Officer conducts an analysis of the debtor before disbursing credit by adhering to the 5C elements. Then factors that cause NPL such as internal factors and external factors. Internal factors are usually from the system and bank officers, and external factors usually occur due to the condition of the debtor. Efforts made by Account Officers in reducing non-performing loans are by conducting proper credit analysis, approaching debtors, conducting routine credit monitoring, monitoring debtors whose ability to repay credit is starting to doubt, and providing guidance to debtors whose credit problems are starting but can still be saved and carry out administrative supervision and documentation of loans that have been disbursed. The steps taken to resolve NPL are to restructure credit, reschedule the time of credit payments, do takeovers with other banks, and confiscate guarantees/collaterals. The next step the Account Officer will take other methods in accordance with the procedures for resolving non-performing loans at Bank BJB Kebayoran Baru Branch.
