Abstract

Musculoskeletal disorders are discomfort or pain which located in the muscles, tendons, and skeletal nerve. The disorder is caused by an excessive load that persists for a long time. When those conditions remain untreated, it will cause complaints in the form of pain and discomfort that can be persistent or reversible. During the COVID-19 pandemic, people must do most of their activities at home. Those situations might cause boredom which can cause people to use social media a lot more than usual. This study aims to determine whether there is a correlation between social media disorders and neck and shoulder pain among students of Faculty of Medicine Universitas Pembangunan Nasional Veteran Jakarta. This research uses a cross-sectional design with a sample size of 110 students. The study used modified Nordic Body Map questionnaire and Social Media Disorder questionnaire. The Chi-square test showed there was a correlation between social media disorders and neck pain (p = 0.025), but there was no correlation between social media disorders and shoulder pain.
