Abstract

The phenomenon of online dating applications has been very developed in the community. Online dating applications are one of the developments of new media. The online dating application that is widely used by Indonesian people is the online dating application Tinder. The online dating application Tinder is an application that comes with providing a means to find a friendship or romance that can connect all over the world. This study aims to determine self-disclosure in close relationships with new people in the online dating application Tinder in order to create a sense of trust. The relevant theory in this research is the Self-Disclosure Theory and uses the onion model according to Altman and Taylor. This research was conducted using a qualitative method with a phenomenological approach. Informants in this study were users of the online dating application Tinder. The data analysis technique used in this study is a data analysis technique developed by Moustakas. The results of this study were analyzed using the onion model and through several stages of self-disclosure, namely each informant has different layers and stages of self-disclosure and not all informants reach the deepest layer of self-concept.
