Abstract
Background: Low back pain is a common problem among athletes moresoever basketball player. This anomaly affected by several factors such as abnormality of lower extremity muscles. Lower extremity provide stability to lumbar movements and control force from surface to lower back. If the movements of lower extremity interfered by any means–in this case lower extremity pain, it will affect the way our spine moves. Objective: The purpose of this research is to find association amongst lower extremity pain and low back pain in amateur basketball player. Methods: This cross-sectional study use self-reported questionnaire to collect information about their sporting activities and so on. 91 amateur basketball player with the range of age 17-23 years old participated in this study. The measuring instrument in this study is Numeric Rating Scale (NRS) to assessed association between low back pain and lower extremity pain. In this study, the lower extremity pain divided into 3 parts of injury in ankle, knee, and thigh/hip. Results: Final results of this study were assessed with SPSS 25.0 and obtained that 55 of 91 amateur basketball player (60,4%) experience low back pain. Correlation coefficient Spearman’s rho between lower extremity pain and low back pain with the value p = 0,222 with significance level of p = 0,034. Conclusion: In conclusion, lower extremity pain was associated with low back pain.
