Abstract

This research was conducted to see the parents perceptions of online therapy for children with special needs during the Covid 19 pandemic. The subjects in this study were the parents of children with special needs who were registered at Mental Hospital Dr. Soeharto Heerdjan Jakarta, consisting of 6 people with different ages, years of therapy, and backgrounds. Data were collected using the focus group discussion (FGD) method. Data analysis was performed by manual qualitative data analysis methods, using open coding and axial coding method. The results of the focused group discussion in this study found that the parent’s understanding of the therapeutic needs of children with special needs was known from the respondent's ability to mention the type of therapy carried out in accordance with the theory. From the results of the study, it can be concluded that to see parents' perceptions of online therapy during the Covid 19 pandemic can be known through the ability of respondents to know and recognize online therapy and its types after carrying out this therapy during their “stay at home” time while the PSBB rules was applied.
