Abstract
Fire is an incident of flame, either small or large, which is unwanted and uncontrollable, that can threaten lives, assets, and the environment. The Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) of DKI Jakarta noted that there have been around 410 fire incidents in DKI Jakarta throughout 2019. The activities Faculty of Medicine UPN Veteran Jakarta involved modern technology related to electricity and chemicals that arouse to fire hazards. This study was to analyze the implementation of a fire protection system as an effort to prevent fire in Faculty of Medicine UPN Veteran Jakarta by comparing it with applicable standards. This study used descriptive qualitative study method. This study indicate that there were discrepancies in the application of fire protection systems in Faculty of Medicine UPN Veteran Jakarta when compared to regulations Permen PU No. 26/ PRT/M/ 2008, Permen PU No. 20/PRT/M/2009, Permenakertrans No. PER. 04/MEN/1980, SNI 03-1745-2000, SNI 03-3989-2000, SNI 03-3985-2000, SNI 03-1736-2000, SNI 03-1746-2000, SNI 03-6574-2001, and NFPA 101. The active protection system applied were only fire extinguishers. The suitability of pasive protection systems were found in building materials, building construction, and compartments. The means of saving lives fulfilled were only assembly points. There were no fire organization in the Faculty of Medicine UPN Veteran Jakarta. The average suitability level of the active protection system is 10.4%; 65% passive protection system; life saving facilities 32.63%; organizing fire 10.7%.
