Abstract
This study was conducted to find the cause of de-rating of one of steam turbines at PLTU Tarahan, which its generated power decreased from 100 MW to 95 MW. PLTU Tarahan works based on modified Rankine cycle with 4 closed feedwater heater, 1 open feedwater heater, superheater in boiler, and non-reheat condensing with multiple extraction turbines applied in it. Analysis applied in this study by comparing the actual temperature, mass flow rate, and pressure with designated temperature, mass flow rate, and pressure from Heat Balance Diagram, then observing the actual temperature, mass flow rate, and pressure at superheater. Superheated was chosen because its position is before the turbine. The results of analysis state that pressure loss was found in superheater. The gap between the inlet pressure of superheater and outlet of superheater is 11,1 kg/cm^2. The pressure loss affects greatly on de-rating, so there are some steps which could be applied to reduce the pressure loss temporarily, which is by increasing the work of the Boiler Feed Pump until the pressure inlet of superheated reaches 138,2 kg/cm^2. This steps should be applied to reduce the pressure loss and de-rating which happens in the turbine.
