Abstract

The lack of affordability of fish feed pellets has made fisheries business actors prefer to produce fish feed pellets independently. Pellet production is currently considered to have weaknesses, namely the price of the fish feed pellet press which is quite expensive. For this reason, the development of a pellet machine design needs to be done using the design for manufacture and assembly (DFMA) method. The use of the DFMA method can reduce the number of components and the complexity of the pellet machine. With DFMA, we can compare the selected materials and their manufacturing processes, determine the cost impact of these materials and processes, and find the most efficient use of component designs so as to reduce equipment production costs which lead to a decrease in the selling price of the fish feed pellet machine.
