Abstract
Currently the issue of climate change is one of the biggest threats to humans and the environment, due to the extent of the impact given to various sectors of life. It is understood that climate change is a problem that will cause disaster and threaten global life. Climate change is included in disaster-related activities, so the handling of climate change requires the concept of disaster diplomacy. Handling by applying the principles of climate change adaptation and mitigation, as an effort to reduce and prevent disaster risks. Furthermore, a study was found that the utilization of blue carbon was agreed to be scheduled for countries as an effort to mitigate climate change in achieving GHG emission reduction targets. Indonesia as a maritime country, has a huge potential of blue carbon, and is known as a country that has the second largest area of mangrove ecosystems. But unfortunately Indonesia has not been able to manage its own mangrove ecosystem properly. Then this will encourage international conservation to accommodate the preservation of coastal ecosystems carried out in Kaimana Regency, Papua. Furthermore, this journal will analyze Conservation International in response to the issue of climate change, namely by carrying out mitigation efforts through the preservation of coastal ecosystems (blue carbon). Conservation of coastal ecosystems carried out by Conservation International will be implemented through a coordinated global program, the Blue Carbon Initiative. Strategic steps implemented by Conservation International in the form of scientific activities, policy activities, and conservation activities.
