Abstract

This research will explain how the influence of the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB) in Indonesia, which has a role as a lending agency in the form of investment for infrastructure development. China, as a hegemonic country, has its own mission on establishment of AIIB in the Asian region, which is to expand its economic influences throughout Asia or even Europe, commonly known as the One Belt, One Road (OBOR) program. AIIB itself began to operate in Indonesia since 2016, where this was considered to have a strategic role for the Indonesia’s national interests during the administration of President Joko Widodo. The massive infrastructure development program in all regions of Indonesia was the main mission of the Jokowi’s government to achieve more equitable economic prosperity in all regions of Indonesia. The operation of AIIB in Indonesia can be assessed to have a positive impact on the interests of infrastructure development in Indonesia.
