Abstract
Urinary Tract Infection (UTI) is one of the most common infections in the community. Urinary Tract Infection (UTI) is an inflammatory response from uroepitelium cells due to bacterial invasion characterized by bacteriuria and leukocytes. The effectiveness of antibiotics plays an important role in the success of therapy for urinary tract infections (UTIs) that can be seen from the clinical outcomes of patients, one of which is a decrease in urine leukocyte levels. First-line antibiotics for UTI cases are fluoroquinolones, especially levofloxacin and ciprofloxacin. This study aims to determine the differences in the effectiveness of levofloxacin and ciprofloxacin on clinical outcomes, namely urinary leukocytes in UTI inpatients. The study design used was cross-sectional with a sample of 72 medical records of inpatient UTI patients aged 25-65 years using a purposive sampling method. T independent test results showed no significant difference between levofloxacin and ciprofloxacin against urine leukocytes. Levofloxacin and ciprofloxacin belong to different generations of fluoroquinolone, where levofloxacin is generation 3 fluoroquinolone and ciprofloxacin is second generation fluoroquinolone. Levofloxacin and ciprofloxacin have a clinical outcomes improvement is urine leukocytes
