Abstract
Neck pain can occur as the result of a habit done in the wrong posture for a long time and repeated. One of the postures that can cause neck pain is forward head posture (FHP). With the increasing popularity of gadgets such as smartphones, FHP can be found in adolescents and young adults. The use of smartphones with an excessive duration, and improper body position can cause health problems neck pain. The aim of this study was to determine the relationship between FHP and the duration of smartphone use among students. This type of research is an observational analytic with a cross sectional design. The sampling technique used was stratified random sampling. The research sample used was 84 people. Data were collected at FK UPN "Veteran" Jakarta with research instruments in the form of a questionnaire and a camera. The results were analyzed using the Chi-Square test showing that there was a relationship between FHP and the duration of smartphone use and the incidence of neck pain (p = 0.001). The conclusion of this study is that there is a relationship between FHP and the duration of smartphone use with the incidence of neck pain in FK UPN “Veteran” Jakarta students.
