Abstract
Hatha yoga is a physical exercise approach centered on body posture practices (asana) and breathing control techniques (pranayama), aimed at enhancing physical strength, flexibility, and guiding the body toward an optimal state of relaxation. However, its application as a non-pharmacological intervention among pregnant women remains largely underrecognized, and studies examining its effect on both low back pain and sleep quality simultaneously are still limited. This study employed a Quasi-experimental design with a one-group pretest-posttest approach. A total of 33 third-trimester pregnant women in the working area of Pasar Minggu Community Health Center (Puskesmas) were enrolled as the study sample. Data were collected using the Numeric Rating Scale (NRS) and the Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI). The intervention was conducted over two weeks, with two sessions per week. Wilcoxon signed-rank test analysis revealed that hatha yoga significantly reduced low back pain intensity (p < 0.001) and improved sleep quality (p < 0.001), indicating meaningful differences between pre- and post-intervention measurements. These findings suggest that hatha yoga serves as a safe and effective non-pharmacological therapy for alleviating physical discomfort and sleep disturbances among third-trimester pregnant women.
