Abstract
Carpal Tunnel Syndrome (CTS) is a peripheral nerve disorder caused by compression of the median nerve within the carpal tunnel, resulting from repetitive mobements, and non ergonomic wrist positions over a prolonged period. This condition present with symptoms including pain, tingling, numbness, decreased muscle strength, and limited range of motion that significantly affect daily functional activities. The purpose of this study was to determine the effectiveness of physiotherapy interventions combining Ultrasound (US), Tendon Gliding Exercise, and Median Nerve Mobilization in reducing pain and improving hand function in a CTS patient. This case study was conducted on a 55-year-old female patient diagnosed with right-sided CTS (CTS dextra) who underwent 4 physiotherapy sessions. Outcomes were assessed using the Visual Analogue Scale (VAS), Manual Muscle Testing (MMT), goniometer, and the Boston Carpal Tunnel Questionnaire (BCTQ). Results demonstrated a significant reduction in pain VAS 4 to 1, improvement in range of motion, an increase in muscle strength from MMT 4/5 to 5/5, and improvement in hand function based on BCTQ score. It is concluded that the combination of Ultrasound, Tendon Gliding Exercise, and Median Nerve Mobilization is effective in reducing pain and improving functional ability in patients with CTS dextra.
