Abstract

This study analyzes the framing of media coverage regarding Ahmad Sahroni's response to the issue of dissolving the House of Representatives (DPR). The issue evolved into widespread public discourse after Ahmad Sahroni's statement was reported and triggered diverse media responses. This research aims to examine how the media framed this response and the differences in framing patterns used by CNNIndonesia.com and Tempo.co. The approach employed is descriptive qualitative, utilizing the framing analysis method of the Zhongdang Pan and Gerald M. Kosicki model, which encompasses syntactic, script, thematic, and rhetorical structures. The research data consist of eight news articles published by CNNIndonesia.com and Tempo.co from August 22 to September 6, 2025. The findings indicate that CNNIndonesia.com constructed a controversial-personal framing by emphasizing verbal conflicts, emotional responses, and Ahmad Sahroni’s individual reactions to public criticism. In contrast, Tempo.co constructed an institutional-political framing through news structures that highlighted institutional positions, consistent thematic patterns, and the use of political language within the context of democratic political dynamics. This research contributes to enriching the study of political communication and online media framing in Indonesia, while simultaneously serving as an analytical reference for future studies in examining media construction of reality on contemporary political issues
