Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effect of RPM variation, towing line length, and load on thrust values of a ship model using a simple pull test mechanism. The experiment was conducted on a lake that had been verified to meet the deep water criteria based on ITTC, with three RPM variations of 13,000, 14,500, and 17,500, three towing line length variations of 4 m, 7 m, and 10 m, and two load variations of 1 kg and 2 kg. The results show that thrust increases with rising RPM and increasing towing line length, and decreases with increasing load. The highest thrust value of 12,3 N was obtained at RPM 17,500, towing line 10 m, and load 1 kg. The effect of towing line length is indicated to be related to the shore effect that diminishes as the towing line length increases.
