Abstract
The rapid growth of e-commerce in Indonesia has intensified competition among platforms to provide an optimal online shopping experience. Data from the Indonesian Internet Service Providers Association (APJII) in 2025 indicate that a considerable proportion of the population still experiences difficulties in using digital applications and has not yet utilized online shopping services. This condition highlights the importance of interface design quality in enhancing user satisfaction. This study aims to analyze the effect of Tokopedia's interface design on user satisfaction in the online shopping experience. A quantitative approach with an associative method was employed. Data were collected through questionnaires distributed to 385 respondents using a purposive sampling technique and analyzed using IBM SPSS Statistics. This study adopts theUser-Centered Design (UCD) approach and Jakob Nielsen’s usability principles as the theoretical foundation for examining the relationship between interface design and user satisfaction. The findings reveal that interface design has a positive and significant effect on user satisfaction. The learnability dimension of interface design and the content dimension of user satisfaction obtained the highest mean scores among their respective variables. The novelty of this study lies in the application of theUser-Centered Design (UCD) approach and Jakob Nielsen’s five usability dimensions to examine the effect of interface design on user satisfaction in the context of the Tokopedia application. The findings indicate that an interface that is easy to learn, efficient, and user-centered can enhance both the online shopping experience and user satisfaction.
