Abstract
Acute Respiratory Infection (ARI) among school-aged children remains a public health concern, with spatial variations across regions and potential associations with population characteristics and indoor school air quality. This study aimed to describe the spatial distribution and analyze the correlation between population characteristics and indoor school air quality with the incidence of ARI among school-aged children in Bogor City in 2025. This study employed an ecological study design with six subdistricts as the unit of analysis, using secondary data obtained from the Bogor City Health Office in 2025, including data on ARI incidence, population characteristics, and indoor air quality from 512 schools. Data were analyzed using correlation tests and spatial mapping. The results showed that the highest proportion of ARI cases was observed in Bogor Barat Subdistrict (22.37%), while the lowest proportion was found in Bogor Timur Subdistrict (12.15%) out of a total of 75,496 ARI cases. Correlation analysis indicated that the proportion of boys (r = 0.995), girls (r = 0.994), children aged 6–9 years (r = 0.961), and those aged 10–18 years (r = 0.950) were positively and very strongly correlated with ARI incidence (p < 0.05). In contrast, immunization status, temperature, humidity, ventilation rate, PM₂.₅, and PM₁₀ showed no statistically significant correlation with ARI incidence (p > 0.05). It can be concluded that population characteristics were significantly associated with ARI incidence, whereas indoor school air quality was not significantly associated, although several air quality parameters did not meet the recommended standards. These findings are expected to provide evidence for developing policies to prevent and control ARI among school-aged children in Bogor City
