Abstract
Dengue hemorrhagic fever (DHF) is spread through the sting of the Aedes aegypti mosquito. In the Cakung district of East Jakarta, the cases of DHF doubled, from 348 in 2024 to 626 in 2025. This study investigated the links between host and environmental factors, and the DHF incidence through a cross-sectional study that took place between February and June 2026. A total of 132 participants took part, selected via multi stage cluster sampling. Data were gathered through questionnaires, while environmental factors were assessed using an Air Quality Monitor, the Chi-Square test was applied for data analysis. Three factors correlated significantly with the DHF incidence, age (p-value=0.000; POR=0.06; 95%CI=0.02–0.12), the airtight sealing of water storage containers (p-value=0.004; POR=5.40; 95%CI=1.71–16.99), and failure to hang up used clothing (p-value=0.015; POR=3.60; 95%CI=1.35–9.57). Of these, sealing water reservoirs airtight proved to be the main factor associated with the incidence of DHF in the service area of the Cakung Health Center (p-value=0.022; adjusted POR=4.028; 95%CI: 1.217–13.323). These findings indicate that regular, weekly monitoring of mosquito breeding sites eradication especially covering water containers tightly is essential for controlling DHF transmission.
