Abstract
Improper solid medical waste management was still identified at Marinir Cilandak Hospital, including blood spills along the route to the temporary storage area, safety boxes placed on the floor, yellow medical waste bags that were not completely placed in wheelie bins, and a needle-stick injury experienced by a worker during waste disposal. This study aimed to analyze the solid medical waste management system at Marinir Cilandak Hospital in 2026 based on the input, process, and output aspects. This study employed a descriptive qualitative approach using purposive sampling to select the informants. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, observations, and document reviews, and were analyzed using data reduction, data presentation, conclusion drawing, source triangulation, time triangulation, and member checking. The results showed that solid medical waste management had been implemented; however, it had not fully complied with the applicable regulations. The input aspect revealed limitations in staff training and administrative documentation. The process aspect identified mixed medical and non-medical waste and non-compliance with personal protective equipment use. The output aspect showed that waste transportation was supported by a third party, although further technical and administrative improvements are needed to optimize solid medical waste management.
