Abstract
Informal sector woodworkers are at high risk of developing impaired lung function. Impaired lung function contributes to mortality and is one of the leading causes of work-related deaths. This study aimed to analyze the factors associated with impaired lung function among informal sector woodworkers in Ciracas District, East Jakarta, in 2026. A quantitative study with a cross-sectional design was conducted. A total of 101 respondents were selected using purposive sampling. Data were collected through questionnaire based interviews, measurements of PM2.5 and PM10 exposure using an air quality monitor, and pulmonary function examinations using spirometry. The results showed that 67.3% of the respondents had impaired lung function. Multiple logistic regression analysis identified age as the strongest factor associated with impaired lung function (POR = 6.78 (95% CI;2.09-21.99)), after controlling for years of employment (POR = 3.74 (95% CI; 1.12-12.42)), smoking habits (POR = 1.78 (95% CI; 0.44-7.08)), the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) (POR = 4.53 (95% CI; 1.36-15.03)), and PM2.5 exposure (POR = 5.94 (95% CI; 1.69-20.79)). The findings highlight the need for wood business owners to provide N95 respirators and ensure their consistent use during work.
