Abstract
Conventional assembly lines in small and medium industries still rely on manual production monitoring, resulting in suboptimal identification of waiting waste. Studies on low-cost monitoring systems that integrate production data with Lead time and Idle time indicators remain limited for small-scale industrial environments. This study aims to design and evaluate a digital production monitoring system based on the Internet of Things using ESP32, infrared sensors, GM66 barcode scanners, and cloud spreadsheets to automatically record real-time production data on an experimental assembly line. The results show a data reading accuracy of 89.17%, with total Lead time decreasing from 100.38 seconds to 71.27 seconds and total Idle time decreasing from 62.32 seconds to 25.83 seconds. The developed system improves process visibility and supports faster identification of waiting waste compared to conventional methods, making it a flexible and cost-effective digital monitoring solution for small industries and SMEs.
