Abstract

Indonesia, as a tropical country, means it’s always economically active, causing transportation to play a central role in its activities, whether for personal use or for business purposes. Due to the high volume of vehicles on its roads, public transportation has become a necessary and viable option for the population, one of them being the Rapid Transit Bus Transjakarta. However, due to the relatively low investments in the Transjakarta busway’s technology, some parts of the system still use manual human labor, such as the gate placed in Transjakarta bus’ routes to keep personal vehicles from accessing it. This research aims to find if there’s a way to automate that gate system using Internet of Things (IoT) technology, that uses Arduino IDE software coded in the programming language C++, including ultrasonic technology as well. The result of this research shows that the technology does allow for the gate to be automated and the data acquired from it can be used to help its users. The findings in this research are expected to help with automation of the process and to reduce manual human labor for a minor task.
