Abstract
Public health has become a crucial issue in sustainable development and is closely associated with environmental and socio-economic factors. The causal used in this study include the Environmental Quality Index (EQI), per capita expenditure, and population density, while the outcome is disease incidence. Disease incidence per 1,000 population in this study is measured through recorded cases of Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever (DBD) and leprosy in each regency and municipality. The study employs secondary data obtained from Indonesia Statistics Board (BPS) and the Ministry of Environment of the Republic of Indonesia. This research aims to analyze the causality of the Environmental Quality Index (EQI), per capita expenditure, and population density on disease incidence in regencies and municipalities of West Java in 2024 using the fuzzy set Qualitative Comparative Analysis (fsQCA) method. The results indicate that low environmental quality combined with high population density, as well as high environmental quality combined with high per capita expenditure, have a causality to disease incidence in West Java Province.
