Abstract

Domestic Direct Investment (Penanaman Modal Dalam Negeri/PMDN) plays an important role in driving national economic growth. This study analyzes the effect of lending interest rates, inflation, and exports on PMDN in Indonesia, both in the short run and the long run. The study uses secondary quarterly time-series data for the 2010Q1–2025Q4 period, obtained from the Indonesia Investment Coordinating Board, Statistics Indonesia, and Bank Indonesia, and applies the Error Correction Model (ECM). The results show that, in the short run, lending interest rates, inflation, and exports have no significant partial effect on PMDN. In the long run, lending interest rates and inflation have a negative and significant effect, whereas exports have a positive and significant effect. Simultaneously, the three variables significantly affect PMDN in both periods. The Error Correction Term coefficient of -0.211219 indicates that 21.12% of the short-run disequilibrium is corrected toward long-run equilibrium each period. The study concludes that exports are the most dominant determinant of PMDN in the long run. Therefore, strengthening export performance, controlling inflation, and maintaining interest rate stability should be prioritized to attract domestic investment.
