Abstract
The export value of Indonesian natural rubber exhibits a fluctuating pattern, peaking at US$ 11.76 billion in 2011 before stagnating around US$ 3-5 billion over the past eight years. This study analyzes the effect of world rubber price, exchange rate, domestic production, and Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) on rubber export value for the 1994-2024 period using the Error Correction Model (ECM). The results indicate that world rubber price and domestic production have a positive and significant effect in both the short and long run, confirming price as the primary incentive and the importance of exportable surplus. In contrast, exchange rate and FDI show no significant effect in either period, suggesting that export performance is driven more by supply fundamentals and global reference prices, alongside the low absorption of export-oriented foreign investment in the plantation subsector. The model also confirms an adjustment mechanism toward long-run equilibrium. As policy implications, the government needs to encourage downstream industries and rubber replanting programs.
