Abstract
Social media is growing rapidly in Indonesia and is being used as a promotional tool by various parties, including influencers. An influencer’s credibility is one factor that can influence consumers’ purchase intent toward promoted products. However, an incident involving Shella Saukia raises questions about the extent to which her credibility can still influence the purchase intent of followers of the TikTok account @shellasaukia. This study aims to analyze the influence of an influencer’s credibility on the purchase intent of followers of the TikTok account @shellasaukia using Source Credibility Theory. The method used was a survey involving the distribution of questionnaires to 100 followers of the TikTok account @shellasaukia, selected using purposive sampling. The data source for this study was primary data. The results indicate that influencer credibility has a positive and significant effect on the purchase intent of followers of the TikTok account @shellasaukia. This finding supports the Source Credibility Theory proposed by Hovland, Janis, and Kelley which states that sources with high credibility are more effective in influencing the attitudes and behaviors of their audience. Thus, the higher the influencer’s credibility, the higher the followers’ purchase intent toward the promoted product.
