Abstract
Mild head injury (TMI) is a condition frequently encountered in traffic accidents, falls, and blunt force trauma. This condition can cause various nursing problems, particularly acute pain due to tissue damage. Head injuries trigger the release of inflammatory substances that stimulate pain receptors, causing headaches and discomfort. Inadequate pain management can disrupt the quality of rest, reduce patient comfort, and slow the recovery process. One non-pharmacological method that can be applied to reduce pain levels is the use of slow breathing techniques and guided imagery. Slow breathing helps trigger a relaxation response through stimulation of the parasympathetic nervous system, thereby reducing muscle tension, heart rate, and stress responses. On the other hand, guided imagery helps shift the perception of pain through mental relaxation and positive imagery. The purpose of this case study is to clarify how these two therapies are used to a patient who has a slight head injury and is having nursing issues because of severe pain. Assessment, nursing diagnosis, intervention, implementation, and evaluation using the Numerical Rating Scale (NRS) comprised the three-day nursing care process approach. Following the treatments, the findings demonstrated a reduction in the severity of the pain, an increase in relaxation, and an improvement in patient comfort.
