Abstract
Background: Chronic kidney disease (CKD) is a progressive disease characterized by a persistent decline in kidney function, which leads to an imbalance in fluid dan electrolyte levels dan an accumulation of metabolic waste products in the body. This condition causes various symptoms such as fatigue, nausea, decreased appetite, dan sleep disturbances. Fatigue is one of the commonest complaints in patients undergoing hemodialysis dan can have a negative impact on their quality of life as well as their ability to perform daily activities. Untreated fatigue can also worsen both their physical dan psychological conditions. One non-pharmacological intervention that can be applied is progressive muscle relaxation (PMR), which is simple dan does not cause side effects. Research Method: This case study aims to describe the application of PMR in reducing fatigue in patients with chronic kidney disease. Methods: This study used a descriptive design with a case study approach involving one patient with CKD undergoing hemodialysis. Data were collected through interviews, observation, dan physical examination. The intervention was carried out over six days using the PMR technique applied gradually according to the patient's condition, with continuous monitoring of the patient's response durineg the intervention. Results: The results showed a decrease in fatigue levels, indicated by reduced complaints of weakness dan dizziness, improved ability to perform light activities, dan better sleep dan rest patterns. In addition, the patient was able to understand dan perform the relaxation technique independently. Conclusion: The use of progressive muscle relaxation in Mrs. L is effective in reducing fatigue levels, therefore it can be used as a non-pharmacological intervention in care to improve patients quality of life.
