Abstract

Academic stress is one of the common problems faced by students and has the potential to reduce focus, enthusiasm for learning, and mental health. Brain Gym, as a non-pharmacological intervention, focuses on a series of simple movements designed to enhance relaxation, brain coordination, and concentration through the stimulation of left–right brain integration. This case study aims to describe the effectiveness of Brain Gym in reducing stress and anxiety levels in two clients, namely Nn. L as the managed client and Nn. S as the resume client, based on measurements using the DASS questionnaire. Initial assessments showed that both clients were in the severe category for stress and anxiety (Nn. L: S=26, A=19; Nn. S: S=27, A=19). The Brain Gym intervention was carried out for four consecutive days and evaluated over seven days. The results indicated a significant decrease in scores for both clients, where Nn. L showed reductions to stress 17 and anxiety 9, while Nn. S decreased to stress 16 and anxiety 8, shifting to the mild category. These findings indicate that Brain Gym not only helps reduce emotional tension but also enhances calmness, mental clarity, and coping abilities in managing academic demands. Therefore, Brain Gym can be recommended as a promotive and preventive intervention to support students’ mental health. Keywords : Brain Gym, Anxiety, Academic Stress
