Abstract

Agility is an essential component of physical fitness that plays a crucial role in supporting badminton performance, particularly in adolescent athletes who are undergoing physical and neuromuscular development. Individual characteristics such as age, gender, body mass index (BMI), and psychological factors including competitive anxiety are assumed to influence agility performance. This study employed a descriptive quantitative design with a total sampling technique involving 55 adolescent badminton athletes at PB Jaya Raya Ragunan. Agility was assessed using the 4×10 meter shuttle run test, BMI was determined through anthropometric measurements, and competitive anxiety was evaluated using the Competitive State Anxiety Inventory-2R (CSAI-2R). Data were analyzed descriptively to illustrate agility characteristics based on the studied variables. The findings indicated that the majority of athletes were classified in the very good agility category, predominantly among 14-year-old and male athletes. Most athletes had a normal BMI and low levels of competitive anxiety, particularly in the cognitive and somatic anxiety subscales, with self-confidence levels tending to be moderate to high. Adolescent badminton athletes generally demonstrate a very good level of agility, supported by relatively optimal physical and psychological characteristics.
