Abstract

Pulmonary tuberculosis remains a global health problem with high incidence and transmission rates, including in Indonesia. This condition requires nursing students, as future healthcare professionals, to possess adequate clinical readiness to provide safe and competent care for patients with pulmonary tuberculosis. Clinical readiness is influenced by various factors, including knowledge and self-efficacy. This study aimed to analyze the relationship between knowledge and self-efficacy and the clinical readiness of nursing students in caring for patients with pulmonary tuberculosis at a higher education institution in Indonesia. This quantitative study employed a cross-sectional design and involved undergraduate nursing students of Universitas Pembangunan Nasional “Veteran” Jakarta from the 2022, 2023, and 2024 cohorts. A total sampling technique was applied, involving 380 respondents. Data were collected using the Indonesian version of the National Tuberculosis Curriculum Consortium (NTCC) questionnaire and analyzed using the Chi-Square test. The results showed a significant relationship between knowledge and clinical readiness (p < 0.001), as well as between self-efficacy and the clinical readiness of nursing students (p < 0.001). These findings indicate that knowledge and self-efficacy are associated with the clinical readiness of nursing students and may be considered in the development of clinical learning strategies in nursing education.
