Abstract
High academic pressures such as numerous assignments, exam preparation, and the demands of achieving academic achievement can increase stress in adolescents and directly impact their sleep patterns. During adolescence, sleep plays a crucial role in learning, cognitive function, emotional health, and physical development. However, poor sleep hygiene, such as excessive use of gadgets and irregular sleep schedules, further worsens sleep quality, potentially reducing academic performance and mental health. This study aims to analyze the relationship between academic stress and sleep hygiene with sleep quality in adolescents at SMAN 5 Kota Depok. The method used was quantitative with a descriptive correlational design and a cross-sectional approach. The sample consisted of 267 students in grades 10 and 11 obtained through stratified random sampling. The measurement instruments included ESSA, SHI, and PSQI, with the Spearman Rank statistical test. The results showed a significant relationship between academic stress and sleep quality (p = 0.002; r = 0.192), as well as between sleep hygiene and sleep quality (p = 0.017; r = 0.147), with a positive correlation indicating that higher academic stress and poorer sleep hygiene lead to lower sleep quality. These findings emphasize the importance of stress management efforts and the implementation of good sleep hygiene in adolescents, with educational support and monitoring from community nurses and school administrators to maintain sleep quality and mental health in adolescents.
