Abstract

Background: Students active in organizations face dual demands between academic and non-academic responsibilities, which can affect their level of physical activity and sedentary behavior. Objective: This study provides an overview of physical activity and sedentary behavior among active students in BEM FIKES UPN “Veteran” Jakarta for the 2025 period. Methods: A descriptive quantitative method with a cross-sectional approach involved 78 members of active students in BEM FIKES UPN “Veteran” Jakarta. Data were collected using the IPAQ-SF questionnaire for physical activity and the SBQ for sedentary behavior. Univariate analysis used SPSS. Results: The students were mainly aged 20-24 years old, predominantly female, with a normal BMI, and engaged in passive hobbies. The majority of students were in moderate physical activity (50%). Moderate physical activity was mostly found in the 20-24 age group, males, and overweight and obese BMI groups. Students have high sedentary behavior (79.5%). High sedentary behavior is more dominant in the 18-20 age group, female gender, underweight BMI, and students with passive hobbies. Conclusions: Despite moderate physical activity, sedentary behavior remains high among the students. Promotional programs are needed to increase physical activity and reduce sedentariness among active student organizations.
