Abstract

This study is done with the objective of seeing and analysing how the attack to Iranian Embassy to England in London affecting their foreign policy, especially in the 2015-2020 period. To analyse the historical event a psychological approach with rational choice theory and idiosyncratic theory was used as the tool to dissect the events carefully, to see how traumatic events may affect the psyche head of the state as decisionmaker, and how experience and background of the head of state can affect future foreign policy. Research method including literature study and interviewing relevant sources, gathered data then analysed using proposed theory as an analysing tool to explain causality and correlations within each variable. The results show that terrorist attack in the Iranian Embassy for United Kingdom in London does have an indirect traumatic effect towards the Iran-United Kingdom bilateral relations in 2015-2020 which proven with: (1) Continuation of diplomatic relations; (2) Public perception distortion; and (3) International cooperation configuration. This research show that diplomatic incident that occurred in 1980 does have a traumatic effect that affects the Iran-United Kingdom bilateral relations in the future years which is the 2015-2020 period.
