Abstract
The Draft Legislation on Safeguarding Domestic Workers (RUU PPRT) has not yet been passed. This scenario has led to a lack of legal safeguards for domestic workers (PRT). The lack of specific regulations to govern and safeguard domestic workers leaves thisgroup at risk of various types of rights abuses. Thus, decisive actions are necessary to expedite the ratification of the PPRT Bill to guarantee that domestic workers' fundamental rights are met and they are provided with comprehensive legal safeguards as a vulnerable workforce. The primary aim of this study is to recognize the obstacles and opportunities in the ratification process of the PPRT Bill and the formulation of criminal law provisions within it. The methodology employed is normative juridical, relying on secondary data thatencompasses laws and regulations, legal literature, and findings from relevant prior studies. Utilizing this approach, the problem-solving methods applied consist of a statutory approach and a comparative analysis. This research indicates that the ratification of the PPRT Bill encounters numerous challenges, especially from political factors and inadequate backing from decision-makers. Nevertheless, several avenues exist to hasten its approval, including support from civil society and established institutions. Furthermore, the Domestic Workers Bill includes criminal provisions intended to safeguard domestic workers and give them a feeling of safety, while also serving as a deterrent against legal infractions.
