Abstract
East Kalimantan Province plays a vital role in Indonesia’s national economy as a center of mining activity and the development of the new capital city, Nusantara (IKN). The province records high Gross Regional Domestic Product (GRDP) and GRDP per capita; however, its Labor Force Participation Rate (LFPR) remains lower than that of other provinces on the island of Kalimantan. This condition indicates that strong economic growth has not been fully accompanied by an increase in labor force participation. This study aims to analyze the influence of the Human Development Index (HDI), District/City Minimum Wage, and Population on the LFPR in East Kalimantan Province during the period 2015–2024. The research employs panel data regression analysis using a fixed effect model. The data were obtained from publications of the Central Bureau of Statistics (BPS) of East Kalimantan Province. The results reveal that HDI has no significant effect on LFPR, the Minimum Wage has a negative and significant effect, while Population has a positive and significant effect on LFPR. These findings indicate that labor market dynamics in East Kalimantan are still largely influenced by demographic factors and wage policies, while improvements in human resource quality have not yet been matched by sufficient expansion of formal employment opportunities
