Abstract
This study aims to analyze the influence of Average Years of Schooling (ARS), Labor Force, Gross Domestic Product (GDP) per Capita, and Domestic Investment (PMDN) on fluctuations in the crime rate in Indonesia from 2005 to 2024. Using secondary time series data and the Error Correction Model (ECM) method, this study found that partially, in both the short and long term: (1) ARS has a negative but insignificant effect; (2) Labor Force has a negative but insignificant effect; (3) GDP per Capita has a positive and significant effect, indicating a target effect phenomenon; and (4) PMDN has a negative but insignificant effect on the crime rate. This study concludes that improvements in macroeconomic indicators and education have not been fully effective in reducing the crime rate in Indonesia without being accompanied by economic equality and the creation of quality jobs.
