Abstract
Objective Diabetes mellitus (DM) is one of the health problems that until now the prevalence continues to increase. Diabetes as one of the main risk factors for peripheral artery disease (PAD) is the supporting reason for the pathomechanism of complications in patients. One of the macrovascular complications that often occur is PAD. The occurrence of macrovascular complications is known to be related to various factors. Including risk factors such as albuminuria, age, gender, length of suffering, HbA1c control, smoking history, history of hypertension and dyslipidemia. Information equipment related to the prevalence of type 2 DM with PAD complications with specific research areas in Indonesia and the identification of the relationship between albuminuria and risk factors owned by type 2 DM patients at the Jurang Mangu Health Center, South Tangerang became the background and purpose of this study. Method This study used an observational analytical method with a cross-sectional design and involved 69 samples taken by simple random sampling technique from the results of primary ankle brachial index (ABI) examination data and secondary data from medical records of type 2 DM patients at Jurang Mangu Health Center, South Tangerang. Result Data analysis obtained a significant association (p= 0.012, p<0.05) related to HbA1c control risk factors for PAD incidence in type 2 DM patients. Meanwhile, statistical tests on other variables such as age (p=0.147), sex (p=0.181), length of DM (p=0.929), smoking history (p=1.000), history of hypertension (p=0.513), dyslipidemia (p=0.902) and albuminuria (p=0.687) showed no significant association (p>0.05) with the incidence of PAD in the condition of type 2 DM patients. Conclusion There was a significant association between HbA1c control factors and PAD incidence in type 2 DM patients. Meanwhile, there was no significant association with risk factors for age, sex, length of DM, smoking history, history of hypertension, dyslipidemia, and albuminuria in this study.
