Abstract

Hypertension is one of the main causes of chronic kidney disease and plays a significant role in accelerating the impairment in kidney function. The use of antihypertensive drugs in chronic kidney disease (CKD) patients not only controls blood pressure but also prevents the progression of kidney function decline. This study aimed to determine the use of antihypertensive drugs on kidney function. This study is an observational analytical study with a cross-sectional study design using medical records of hypertensive patients with CKD at RSUP Persahabatan from 2024 to 2025. A total of 131 patients met the inclusion criteria. The majority of patients were middle-aged (54%), male (53%), elevated urea levels (87%), elevated creatinine levels (52%), and were in stage G2 (40%). Paired Sample T-test showed a significant difference in GFR values (p = 0.003), while the Wilcoxon Signed-rank test did not show a significant difference in urea levels (p = 0.806) and creatinine (0.031). The results of the study showed that there was an effect of antihypertensive drugs in CKD patients which was found in the decrease in urea levels, decrease in creatinine levels, and increase in GFR values.
