Abstract

This study aims to understand how accountability is interpreted and implemented in financial relationships between children and parents based on trust, responsibility, and relational closeness. The interpretation of accountability in families cannot be explained using the mainstream accountability framework, which is oriented towards compliance, transaction evidence, and formal standards. Using Heidegger's phenomenological approach, this study explores the lived experience of informants as dasein who understand themselves through their existence with others. Data were obtained through in-depth interviews with one main informant and analyzed through the stages of epoche, reduction, and interpretation. The results show that accountability in families is relational, flexible, and influenced by context. Accountability is not always present in the form of formal reporting, but through daily communication, sharing news, and efforts to maintain trust. Reporting is done not because of compliance requirements, but because of moral awareness and the value of affection. This study confirms that family accountability is a form of value-based accountability and is essentially different from accountability in mainstream accounting
